Tanzania Serengeti Migration safari in 2024 - 2025.
This 5-Day Great Serengeti Migration (EAST OF THE GRUMETI RIVER & NAABI HILL) Wet season Safari package has been designed specifically to focus on and to increase your chance to see the great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration in Eastern Serengeti. The eastern plains of the Serengeti ecosystem encompass a massive area. They begin roughly just east of Naabi Hill. They extend east through the Gol Kopjes, Lemuta Hill, Nasera Rock, AngataKiti, the Salei Plains, and to the Ngorongoro Highlands. Wildebeest usually linger in north-eastern Serengeti and migrate further south in December.
You will enjoy a Serengeti East Safari during November and December when the mega herds return from Masai Mara National Reserve to the rich plains of the Serengeti National Park, east of the Grumeti River, passing through Lobo and Western Loliondo and under the majestic Gol mountains, at the northern edge of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Here, you will find one of the utmost concentrations of cheetahs in the Serengeti, preying on half a million indigenous gazelles and impalas including migrants. The mountains shelter colonies of Ruppell's Griffon Vultures. Wildebeest cover the central-east valleys on their way north after the long rains, and some pour through the scenic bottleneck of the AngataKiti pastures during the shorter rains on their way back south. But with or without the migratory millions, this area is breathtaking for its immensity and feeling of freedom the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater.
Lobo, at the eastern edge of the Serengeti National Park and on a small stretch of the Grumeti River that offers excellent year-round game observation, gives unrivaled views of grassland and kopjes. Further south, outside the game park border, and almost a third as large as the Serengeti National Park, Loliondo is a private concession and more versatile.
Your Tanzania Widerange African Safaris guide will meet you at the Arusha/Kilimanjaro airport and transport you to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi Tanzania. Set up your lodging, relax, and get used to the African environment. The next day, you'll be ready to begin your 5-day Great Tanzania Serengeti Migration safari (Ndutu Calving Season). Arusha is the capital of the Arusha Region in northern Tanzania, with a population of 416,442 people plus 323,198 in the adjacent Arusha District. Arusha, located below Mount Meru on the eastern border of the Great Rift Valley's eastern branch, has a temperate climate. The Serengeti National Park, Ngorongoro Conservation Area, Lake Manyara National Park, Olduvai Gorge, Tarangire National Park, Mount Kilimanjaro, and Arusha National Park on Mount Meru are all within driving distance of the city.
The first day of your safari will begin at 8 a.m. with a pick-up from your Arusha accommodation. You will depart for Tarangire National Park once everyone has boarded. The 150 km drive will take roughly 3 hours. The national park is well-known and unique for its varied topography and nine distinct vegetation zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be greeted by old and massive Baobab trees, which dwarf even large creatures like the giraffe. The game drive lasts until late afternoon, with a brief halt for a picnic lunch. The Tarangire River flows through the 3,000-square-kilometer park, giving it its name. The river draws a wide variety of animals, and you should see elephants, giraffes, lions, antelopes, and zebra. You might be able to identify the tree-climbing python and the long-necked Gerek if you're lucky. The Tarangire National Park has the highest number of elephants, providing a rare opportunity to watch elephant family dynamics. Don't forget to take pictures of the stunning scenery using your camera. Following the game drive, you'll return to your camp/lodge for a sumptuous meal. Sleep well tonight in preparation for tomorrow's trip. Overnight in Manyara's Public Camp/Tented Camp/Lodge.
After an early breakfast, your guide will pick you up and drive you to the Serengeti National Park through the Ngorongoro crater rim. Leaving the highlands behind, you will descend into the heart of untamed Africa, the Serengeti National Park, with its vast plains stretching as far as the eye can see. You'll travel to the Seronera sector of the central park, one of the park's finest wildlife habitats, which includes the Seronera River, which serves as a vital water source for the area and hence draws wildlife that is representative of the Serengeti's species. You will go on a game drive in the vicinity before driving to the Serengeti's Public/ Tented Camp or Lodge in the evening.
Spend an entire day exploring the Serengeti's huge plains. You'll get up early to go on a morning game drive. You may see animals grazing in the wonderful morning light, and predators may still be hunting before retiring for the day. Sunrise on the Serengeti is not to be missed, and there will be plenty of photo possibilities at this magnificent hour. You have the choice of returning to your accommodation for a cooked lunch or packing a picnic meal to enjoy at one of the Serengeti's many picnic areas. You will continue on a game drive after lunch. Keep an eye out for lions as evening approaches.
Cheetah can also be seen on the plains in the early morning and late afternoon when the weather is not too hot. To catch their prey, they rely on daylight and speed. A hippopotamus can be found in the larger pools and rivers, while crocodiles can be found lounging on the riverbanks. Before your evening meal, you'll return to camp in time for a sundowner. Dinner and overnight at Serengeti Public/ Tented Camp or Lodge.
You'll get up early for an early morning game drive in the Serengeti, then go to Ndutu for a full day of wildlife viewing. You begin searching for big cats as well as calving wildebeests. This time of year, wildebeests are expected to arrive in the area for calving season, which begins in mid-February. You can either have lunch at the lodge and then go, or you can go on a full-day game drive. You will drive to Tanzania Bush Camps Ndutu in the late afternoon for dinner and stay
. Overnight at Ndutu's Tented Camp.
(A Hot Air Balloon ride is also available in this location.)
Excursion to the Serengeti via Balloon
Those who book ahead of time will be able to fly across the plains during one of their mornings in the Serengeti. A pre-dawn wake-up call gives you enough time to get to the balloon launch point in time for the best light. Then, as the sun rises, take to the skies. Glide across the plains and acacia treetops, taking in breathtaking vistas of the Seronera River Valley and adjacent plains. Enjoy a wonderful champagne breakfast in the Serengeti wildness following your descent.
At 6:00 a.m., depart the camp for the Ngorongoro Crater. After checking in, you'll take a 600-meter descent into the crater for a full-day game drive. The Ngorongoro crater sustains a diverse range of wildlife, including herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and enormous African elephants, thanks to year-round water and feed. Another major lure to this beautiful national park is its large predator population, which includes lions, hyenas, jackals, cheetahs, and the ever-elusive leopard, which requires a skilled eye to identify. Lake Magadi, a massive but shallow alkaline lake in the crater's southwest quadrant, is one of the crater's most prominent features. There are generally a lot of flamingos, hippos, and other aquatic fowl around. You leave the crater after lunch and head to Arusha/Moshi.
